Ireland's only heart rehab programme is to be unveiled today at Dublin City University.
Heartsmart is designed to help people who have suffered cardiac episodes by combining information about healthy lifestyles with psychological support and counselling.
Patients are referred to the DCU unit by hospital consultants and GPs.
The programme aims to raise the importance of all aspects of cardiac rehabilitation - including nutrition, medication, exercise, return to work and normal activity.
The event today will be attended by hospital consultants who refer patients to DCU, local GPs, university staff and students who work on the programme.
