London - Welsh head teacher Ms Marjorie Evans said yesterday she was "euphoric, ecstatic and delighted" to have finally been cleared after a disciplinary hearing of all allegations of pupil mistreatment.

Ms Evans was suspended in September 1999 when allegations surfaced that she slapped a 10-year-old boy with learning difficulties after dragging him out of a classroom when he refused to do as he was told.

She denied the allegation, claiming the boy had tried to push and punch her until he had to be restrained by getting hold of both his wrists and crossing them over his body.
