Harrington, Monty fit for German Masters

Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie will play in this week¿s German Masters after declaring themselves fit today.

Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie will play in this week¿s German Masters after declaring themselves fit today.

Harrington had been bothered by neck and ankle injuries since July; Montgomerie was troubled with a back injury.

Montgomerie has not competed since withdrawing from the NEC world championship in Seattle after 27 holes on August 23rd.

The return to fitness of both players will be welcomed by Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance. Harrington and Montgomerie are seen as key members of the European team for the match against the Americans at the Belfry in 18 days.

The pair are also in the field for next week's American Express world championship at Mount Juliet.
