Sven-Goran Eriksson's right-hand man spent Tuesday night under observation at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, west London, and was monitored again yesterday before being discharged.

He will not, as was previously planned, be attending the African Nations' Cup later this month.

"I'm delighted to be out of hospital and feeling well again," said Grip last night.

His condition was not regarded as serious and there was no suggestion his punishing workload necessarily contributed to the problem.

However, after feeling unwell on his way to the FA's Soho Square headquarters yesterday, he was examined by the FA's chief medical officer, Dr John Crane, on his arrival and was sent to hospital as a precautionary move.
