London - A wily old campaigner stalked the corridors of power unchecked yesterday after sneaking past security staff at the House of Commons. A stray fox made his way up three flights of stairs before settling down for a snooze on top of a filing cabinet.

"Perhaps he was on his way to thank MPs for voting to outlaw the outdated and cruel so-called sport of hunting with dogs," said Mr Balantyne of the RSPCA, who was called in to catch the fox and release it nearby.
