A Government grant of £25,000 for work on a dilapidated pier at Inisbofin island, Co Donegal has been announced in an effort to encourage fishermen and their families to return to their old homes. The island, which once had a population of 150, a school, a church and a thriving fishing industry, was abandoned almost 12 years ago.
