Gardaí have ruled out foul play in the death of a 46-year-old Latvian national whose body was discovered in Lucan, South Dublin, last night

Following the results of a post mortem carried out by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, Gardaí have confirmed the man "died from a fall".

The man, originally from Latvia, was discovered at the bottom of the stairs in a residence in Lucan shortly after half eleven last night.

The man's name has not yet been released.

Elsewhere a man in his mid twenties was injured in a shooting incident in Co Laois last night. The man was shot in the shoulder when two men in a car, one armed with a firearm, drove on to a halting site in Ballymorris near Portarlington at around 8.15. Gardaí said the man's injuries were not life-threatening.
