Gardaí have recovered the body of a teenager who went missing earlier this month. Cormac Clare (18) was last seen at his home in Kilteel, Naas, Co Kildare, on October 22nd.

More than 400 people had turned out to search the area after gardaí issued a public appeal for information regarding his whereabouts.

Efforts to find him included assistance from local gardaí as well as divisional search teams, the Garda Water Unit, the Civil Defence and members of the public.

At the time Supt Patrick Mangan, of Naas Garda station, said the young man had been hitchhiking and his family were seriously concerned after initial efforts to locate him proved unsuccessful. His parents, Seamus and Lorraine, described his disappearance as being totally out of character.

The teenager’s remains were discovered yesterday afternoon in Rathcoole, Co Dublin. Gardaí said foul play was not suspected.
