Gardai name three victims of fatal Co Donegal collision

Three people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-car collision in Co Donegal this morning.

The incident happened at Speenogue, Burt on the N13 road between Letterkenny and Derry at 7.00 a.m. this morning.

The driver of a Honda Accord a his 15-year-old backseat passenger were killed when their car collided with a VW Passat being driven by a 40-year-old woman, who also died.

Gardaí named the victims this evening as Ms Ethna Quigley (40) Solomon's Court, Letterkenny, 15 -year-old John Shields from Glenwood Park, Letterkenny, and Mr Owen McGinley (31), from Trentamucklagh, St Johnston, Co Donegal.

Their bodies were brought to Letterkenny General Hospital.

Two other men, who were passengers in the Honda, were injured. One man is in a stable condition at Derry's Altnagelvin Hospital, while the other man is seriously injured in Letterkenny Hospital.

Six units of the Fire Brigade attended the scene to free the victims from the wreckage of the two cars.

Gardaí at Buncrana are investigating the crash.
