Gardaí say they have ruled out foul play in the case of two men who died after they were found unconscious in a house in west Dublin last Sunday.

The two men, one in his 20s and one in his 30s, were found in a house in the Westhaven estate, off Hartstown Road, on Sunday. They were taken to nearby Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where they were pronounced dead.

Gardaí retained a presence at the three-bedroom rented house in Westhaven yesterday, while flowers were left by the doorway.

Though postmortem results were not released, a Garda spokesman said that foul play was not suspected. Some sources suggested the men may have died as a result of a drugs overdose.

Neighbours said yesterday complaints had been made recently to a local estate agent about undesirable activity in the house. One claimed that the men had been told to leave the house this week. The estate agent who owns the property did not return calls yesterday.

"They [ the men] were more or less threatened by the neighbours, that if they weren't moved on they'd put placards up around the house," one resident said. "It's a great area and no area needs that sort of thing."

A woman said that residents were unhappy about constant activity at the house and claimed that a young man had been taken by ambulance from the house several weeks ago. The men had moved into Westhaven relatively recently and they were not known to many people in the area.
