Funfair engineer hit by big dipper

A funfair engineer was last night in intensive care after being struck by a big dipper in Portrush, Co Antrim. The man was working on a ride at Barry's Amusements when the accident happened. He was taken to hospital in Belfast suffering from multiple lacerations and fractures. A spokesman for Barry's said the man was carrying out a safety inspection on the track when he was struck.
