A woman murdered in Cork last weekend has been laid to rest.
The funeral of the Catherine Smart, who was 57, took place this morning at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Midleton, Co Cork.
Gardaí investigating the killing in Midleton are hoping that forensic tests on fingerprints and other DNA evidence found at the murder scene will help them progress their inquiry.
Although gardaí have not for operational reasons disclosed the findings of a postmortem on the mother of three, it is understood she died from a blow or blows to the head on Easter Sunday morning.
