An Irish law firm is offering an exclusive service of free legal advice for one week in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI).
From tomorrow until Friday members of the public who donate €20 to CFAI's "Buy a Brick" Campaign through Dublin based Malcomson Law will obtain a telephone consultation from a qualified solicitor providing them with free legal advice.
Following the initial telephone consultation they will receive a letter with the advice they have been given.
Earlier this year the CFAI launched their "Buy a Brick" campaign which is a major National Campaign to fundraise for dedicated CF units throughout the country.
The campaign plans to raise over €2.5million to ensure that young people living with CF have dedicated units in their regions, taking pressure off the major CF centres in Dublin.
The CFAI says Ireland has the highest prevalence and the most severe types of cystic fibrosis in the World, yet we have some of the poorest resources in Europe.
The "Buy a Brick" campaign plans to reverse this situation, ensuring that CF patients' hospital stays are safer and shorter, through isolated and dedicated units and that they live much better quality lives without having to fear attending hospital.
Philip Watt, CEO of CFAI said Ireland should be a world leader in CF facilities and treatment. However, we seriously lag behind everyone else.
"We now need to take matters into our own hands to protect the lives of our young CF people. Cuts are being made throughout the country and to the Health Service, but we need to ensure that our young people living with CF are given the proper hospital facilities they require, which is a basic human right."
Malcomson Law are asking people to donate for actual bricks and mortar to build these dedicated units throughout the country.
Raymond Bradley, Managing Partner at Malcomson Law said they were looking for an innovative way to give something back to the community, and the idea of a Free Legal Advice Week does just that.
Donations can be made using Visa, Mastercard or Maestro. For free legal advice call Malcomson Law on 01 8289966.
