Five men are being questioned by garda this evening after eight kilos of what appears to be cocaine was seized in north county Dublin.

Gardai also recovered a large quantity of cash in euros and sterling after a car and a truck were stopped in the Rush area earlier today.

If forensic tests show the substance seized is cocaine, the estimated street value is €500,000.

The men are being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Balbriggan and Lusk Garda Stations.

The arrests were separate to Operation Marigold. Officers from the Garda National Drug Unit assisted by the Garda Dog Unit and gardai from Ballbriggan took part in the operation.
