Four prison officers and another man have been released without charge after being questioned in relation to drug dealing in prisons.

The men were arrested in Kildare, Laois and Dublin and questioned by gardaí from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, who were investigating the possession and distribution of illegal drugs at Midland and Wheatfield prisons.

They were held at Garda stations in Dublin and Kildare under the Drug Trafficking Act.
