Guests attending a function at Cathal Brugha Barracks in Dublin last night had to be evacuated from a building in the complex after a fire broke out.
Ten units of Dublin Fire Brigade fought for more than an hour to control the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the dining complex at the barracks in Rathmines.
People attending a function being held in the recently refurbished part of the complex escaped without injury. It is not known what caused the fire, which started in an upper part of the building at around 10.45 p.m.
