Senior Garda sources said yesterday one file has been completed and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to allegations of sexual abuse against a Christian Brother at the Artane industrial school in Dublin, reports Jim Dunne. More files may follow, the sources said.
The Christian Brothers, in a statement following a newspaper report yesterday, said they were concerned that confidential information in relation to the investigation at Artane was coming into the public domain from Garda sources. They insisted it was their policy to co-operate fully with all Garda inquiries into the alleged abuse of people under their care.
The statement added that while allegations had been made, no comment could be made on particular cases "in the interest of justice".
