Roberto Carlos has had his appeal against a provisional ban from all international matches rejected.

The Brazilian World Cup winner was provisionally banned last week following his dismissal for pushing referee Alon Yefet in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Portugal on March 29th.

The Real Madrid defender appealed the decision, but FIFA's disciplinary committee turned down the request after viewing video evidence and the referee's report.

FIFA said that "there is sufficient evidence to support the provisional suspension, and that the regulations have been applied correctly".

A final decision will be made on May 9th when FIFA's disciplinary committee meet in Zurich.
