The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, will attend a Fianna Fail selection convention in the Cork South Central constituency to night to choose a candidate for the by-election to contest the seat left vacant by the death last March of former Fine Gael minister, Mr Hugh Coveney.
The Fianna Fail front-runner for the nomination is solicitor Ms Sinead Behan. Mr Barry Cogan, a former Fianna Fail TD from Carrigaline, will also be seeking the nomination, as will Mr Alan Coleman, a councillor from Belgooley, and Mr Tom O'Driscoll, a teacher and councillor from Ballyphehane.
