London - The tears of a clown were among tributes paid to Princess Diana yesterday by the public as they gathered to lay flowers at her former home.

Mr Edward Larkin (81) dressed as a clown, wept as he looked at the bouquets and messages tied to the gates of Kensington Palace in central London. The toys left at the palace will be sent to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in central London.
