A former priest, who was extradited from the United States, has been remanded in custody after he was charged with indecently assaulting six boys in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Patrick McCabe (75), who is originally from Ireland but has an address at Alameda, California, was turned over to gardaí at the weekend following a legal battle in the US courts. He was charged at Dublin District Court yesterday. The former priest has been accused of 10 counts of indecently assaulting six males between January 1973 and September 1981.
One of the incidents allegedly occurred in Kildare, in 1977, and the remaining charges are alleged to have happened in the north Dublin and Dublin city centre areas.
Judge Denis McLoughlin remanded Mr McCabe in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday.
