Army bomb disposal experts were today called upon to remove an explosive device found in Dublin city centre.

Army bomb disposal experts were today called upon to remove an explosive device found in Dublin city centre.

The device, which was described as "viable," was discovered at about 4.20am at the Vincent Street Flat complex on Clanbrassil Street.

The device was examined by Army bomb disposal experts at the scene but no controlled explosion was carried out. The all-clear was given at 4.45 am following the removal of the device for further examination.

The remains of the device are to be handed over to gardaí for investigation into the incident after a controlled explosion is carried out later today.
