The cost of the National Stadium and sports campus at Abbotstown, Dublin, will be about £550 million, of which £350 million will be paid by the Exchequer, says the chairman of the body charged with overseeing its development.

In an article in today's Irish Times, Mr Paddy Teahon writes that the private sector is likely to invest £150 million and £50 million is being donated by Mr J.P. McManus. The cost of the stadium element will be £230 million.

Due to an error on his (Mr Teahon's) part when before the Joint Committee on Tourism, Sport and Recreation, the Taoiseach and the Minister for Sport had given an incorrect figure of £281 million to the Dail, and are to correct the Dail record, he writes.
