European door left ajar for Bohemians

Bohemians 0 Rosenborg 1

Bohemians have left themselves an uphill but not impossible task after suffering a one nil defeat to Norway's Rosenborg in the first leg of their second round Champion's League qualifier in Dalymount Park tonight.

An Azar Karadas header in the 35th proved decisive for the visitors despite Bohs getting off to a lively start, with a Glen Crowe snap shot going close moments earlier.

Bohs refused to let their heads drop however and regained their shape to cause further problems to Rosenborg but failed to make the passes and shots count against a well organised side for the remainder of the first half.

Paul Keegan and Andrei Pereplyotkin were introduced in the second half at the expense of Robbie Doyle and Mark Rutherford and the fresh legs immediately added extra impetus to the Bohs offensive endeavours.

But it was the arrival of Fergal Harkin that really asked questions of the Rosenborg defence and when he pounced on a poor pass out of the visitors' defence, after some good work form Glen Crowe, the Bohs fans looked to have got what they came for.

But Harkin's shot flashed agonisingly past the wrong side of the far post and with it went the hope of a share of the spoils.
