EU publishes heroin toll

BRUSSELS - Between half a million and a million Europeans take the addictive drug heroin, the European Drugs Observatory said in its first report published yesterday. Some 1 per cent of the EU's adult population have consumed heroin and 0.5 per cent are addicts, the Lisbon-based watchdog body said.
