In our editions of November 5th, 1994, The Irish Times reported that Eibhlin Ni Choistealbha had chaired a meeting of Udaras na Gael tachta which had sanctioned the payment of a grant to a company being advised by her husband. Both these assertions were incorrect.

It is accepted that Ms Ni Choistealbha resigned as chairwoman of the Connacht/Leinster Regional Committee of Udaras na Gaeltachta for no reason other than that her tenure of office as chairwoman had expired.

We wish to apologise unreservedly to Ms Ni Chois tealbha and her husband for any embarrassment or distress caused by the publication.
