Prime is a new magazine for older people produced with the backing of Age & Opportunity, the Health promotion Unit and the Federation of Actively Retired Associations. The publication costs £3.95 and it combines a mix of topics covering health issues, money management, travel, benefits and politics.

There are profiles of high achieving older people, stories of experiences from here and overseas and contributions by well known writers such as Maeve Binchy and Alice Taylor. Prime 1998 is in the form of an annual, but the publishers are hoping to bring out four issues in 1999. For information, phone Sarah Snell at (01) 676 1771.

Age & Opportunity is also one of the organisations promoting the Carry On Learning conference to be held on November 25th at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Co Offaly. The theme of the conference is lifelong learning - the key to health and well-being in older age. The conference is aimed at those involved in providing services to older people, those working with older people in the voluntary sector and representatives from special interest groups for older people. Information is available from the conference co-ordinator at the Midland Health Board in William Street, Tullamore. Phone (0506) 46738.
