The media's role in education will be under the spotlight later this week at a two-day seminar in Dublin. Dissolving Boundaries has been organised by the Teachers' Association for Media Education (TAME), the Northern Ireland Media Education Association and UCI Cinemas, with the support of the Department of Education and Science.
Speakers will include, from The Irish Times, TV critic Eddie Holt and radio critic Harry Browne, who is also editor of the newspaper's weekly Mediascopepage - and Ivan Kehelley from Belfast's Cinemagic.
With the introduction of film studies to the revised Leaving Cert English syllabus, teachers urgently require media courses to supplement Department in-service training, according to TAME.
The seminar takes place next Friday and Saturday at the Royal Dublin Hotel, O'Connell Street, Dublin. For information, phone (021) 504353 or (01) 821 3685.
