"Hair in the gate" is just one column which will appear regularly in Media Edge, the revamped journal of Teachers' Association for Media Education (TAME). "Hair in the gate", columnist Gerry Gilvarry says, is a technical term for any dirt, dust or foreign matter which gets into the camera lens and brings the entire film set to a standstill while the offending item is removed.

The journal is free to all TAME members or to others on receipt of a £10 membership fee. It will be published biannually. The editor Martin Kieran, aims to establish "a must read for all teachers who deliver media studies syllabi in the second and third level sectors". For those who want to join TAME or just get more information, write to TAME secretary, c/o St Vincent's Secondary School, Dundalk, Co Louth.
