The Open University is one of the longest established and most respected providers of distance learning courses in the world. It was set up over 25 years ago and since then more than two and a half million people have participated in its courses. Its approach to learning is flexible with students completing courses in their own time. Three quarters of OU students remain in full-time employment during their studies.
The Open University was set up to offer people the opportunity to fulfil their academic potential regardless of their previous educational background or experience. There are no set entry requirements (except for higher degrees), no selection interviews and OU courses are open to anyone who wants to give a third-level course a try. People do drop out, but the tutor support system is excellent and the vast majority of those who start an OU course finish it. The modular structure of the courses makes it possible for students to study at their own pace and to take time out if necessary.
The OU offers a whole range of qualifications in business, science and the arts and now is the time to get a prospectus if your mind is working in this direction. Course brochures are available for undergraduate and postgraduate courses by telephoning (01) 678 5399. This is a 24 hour line. The OU is located at Holbrook House, Holles Street, Dublin 2.
