Ankara - Turkey's Prime Minister, Mr Bulent Ecevit, won unprecedented all-party support yesterday for his government's presidential candidate, making secular judge Ahmet Necdet Sezer almost certain to become the new head of state.
The veteran prime minister hopes this rare consensus will avoid government division that could jeopardise implementation of a three-year, $4 billion anti-inflation package backed by the International Monetary Fund.
