Discount airline easyJet said today its traffic rose last month by 27 per cent on the same period last year.

The company, Europe's second-biggest discount carrier, carried 680,383 passengers last month, compared with 534,913 passengers in September 2000.

The airline also said over the past 12 months to the end of last month, it had carried 7.12 million passengers.

Its load factor, the number of passengers on the seats of its aircraft, was 83.16 per cent, slightly higher than the 83.03 per cent for the same month last year.
