London - Scientists have used an electronic nose to sniff out genetic odour differences that may play an important role in sexual attraction, it was disclosed yesterday.

The research provides the first biochemical evidence for the theory that men and women with different immune systems find each other's smell attractive.

The scientists, led by Prof Stefanie Montag from the University of Tubingen, reported their findings yesterday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
