DUBLIN Youth Theatre has long been a regular hothouse for new talent and its opening nights are always fun events with the air of a very happy class reunion. Their new production Spinning Webs opened in the Project on Thursday night - it will be one of the last full length productions in the old Essex Street space. Previous members who have graduated to grander things who turned up on Thursday included Brian Brady, who directed the Abbey's latest offering The Marriage Of Figaro with great aplomb, and Anto Brophy, who has just finished filming The Last Bus Home, a new movie written and directed by Johnny Gogan.

Peter Hanley, another exDYT member and now star of Ballykissangel, couldn't make it due to a previous engagement with film director John Schlesinger who is in Dublin seeing actors for his next movie, Sweeney Todd, which will be filmed at Ardmore.
