Struggling Dundee United knocked holders Rangers out of the Scottish Cup today with a well-deserved 1-0 home quarter-final victory.

David Hannah scored the only goal of the game after 62 minutes to clinch the win for a side second-last in the premier league after managing just four wins in 29 league games.

Rangers, hit by injuries, saw their hopes fade further in the 69th minute when Dutch defender Bert Konterman was sent off for a second booking but they can have no complaints about the result.

Glasgow rivals Celtic went through after Henrik Larsson headed his 43rd goal of the season on 40 minutes to secure a 1-0 home victory over Hearts.
