GAA:The Dublin hurlers were knocked off the top of Division One by Galway this afternoon and overtaken by Kilkenny who beat Waterford at Nowlan Park. Dublin's first defeat of the campaign came courtesy of a late Eanna Ryan goal after they had twice drawn level through Paul Ryan.

After staying in touch through Ger Farragher’s five-point haul in the first half, Galway trailed by one at the break at the Parnell Park. They hit the front soon after the restart, however, when Cyril Donnellan found the back of the net.

Conal Keaney had a chance to reclaim the lead from the spot but saw his penalty tipped over the bar as the Dubs drew level at 0-12 to 1-09.

The teams then shared four points but it was Ryan’s timely intervention that sealed the win for the Tribesmen and sent them top.

The Cats moved into second with six-point win over Waterford, but Colin Fennelly’s late goal made for a flattering scoreline.

Shane Walsh had put the visitors ahead in the second half but TJ Reid hit the net for the hosts before Fennelly put the gloss on the result.

There was no separating Cork and Tipperary at Páirc Ui Chaoimh, where it ended 1-14 each.

Luke O'Farrell and Benny Dunne got the goals in the second half but Tipp maybe happier with the point having seen substitute John O’Brien red-carded.

Wexford are staring at relegation after Offaly, inspired by Shane Dooley’s haul of 1-10, won out at O’Connor Park.
