The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) chief constable, Sir Hugh Orde, has said he and his officers are facing up to a serious threat from dissident republicans.

He was speaking at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast today, following the discovery of a dissident bomb in Rosslea in Co Fermanagh yesterday and a gun attack on Keady police station in County Armagh on Thursday night.

Sir Hugh said his officers would continue to deliver policing to the community despite the attempts by dissidents to kill them.

Earlier, Sir Hugh said he was willing to go to a Sinn Féin Ard Fheis and discuss with them what he considers to be the most accountable policing structures in the world.

He said he believed that Sinn Féin was missing an opportunity by not taking its places on Northern Ireland's policing board.
