Almost 180 local authority flats in Galway are set to be demolished during the coming weeks to be replaced by 117 corporation houses. Phase two of the demolition of the Rahoon Park complex will see the relocation of tenants to new housing, in a move which has been broadly welcomed.
Since their construction in the early 1970s, the Rahoon flats have been dogged by controversy, and residents have submitted a litany of complaints to the local authority about living conditions.
