Datalex has announced that founder and largest shareholder Mr Neil Wilson has announced his retirement as the company's head of sales task force.

In a statement, Mr Neil Beck, chief executive, said Mr Wilson will return to a non-executive position with the Howth-based firm following his retirement.

Datalex develops software for the airline and travel market.

On the company's performance, he said: "Like many others in our industry, these trying times have taken their toll on the pace of our recovery. However, we are making progress and remain committed to increased productivity and vigilance in the control of costs".

Earlier this year, Datalex reported a pre-tax loss of $20.6 million (€19.03 million) for the year ended 2002 yesterday, compared to a loss of $92.8 million in 2001.

The group also forecast a positive cash flow during the second half of 2003 following extensive cost-cutting over the past two years.

The company said it expected to attain cash break-even at the end of this year.
