DART trains in Dublin are two carriages shorter for a second day today because of damage to 30 carriages caused by a fire at the Fairview DART depot on Saturday.

An Iarnród Éireann spokeswoman told ireland.comthere would be no trains cancelled, however. Seven trains were cancelled yesterday morning because of the fire.

Iarnród Éireann has said it hopes most of the carriages would be back in service within the next few days.

But it may be several months before the depot, used for maintenance, is fully operational.

The Garda forensic unit are investigating the cause of the fire.

The company has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
