A man who targeted and robbed students as they travelled on the DART has been given a seven-year suspended sentence by Judge Kieran O'Connor. Darren Gallagher (22), Shanganagh Cliffs, Shankill, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to a number of robberies on dates unknown between April 1998 and June 1998. He had no previous convictions.
Mr Roger Sweetman, prosecuting, said that Gallagher, along with other youths, attacked students commuting on the DART and stole goods, including wallets, from them.
