LONDON – A writer has won £65,000 damages over a “spiteful” book review.

Dr Sarah Thornton had sued for libel and malicious falsehood over a November 2008 Daily Telegraphreview by journalist Lynn Barber of Seven Days in the Art World.

The case, which went to London’s High Court after Dr Thornton rejected a qualified “offer of amends”, is believed to be the first finding of malice against a reviewer in decades. – (PA)
