Cyclist killed in Co Carlow collision

Gardaí in Co. Carlow are appealing for witnesses following a traffic collision in which a cyclist was killed this afternoon.

The incident happened at midday on the Bagenalstown to Borris Road in the townland of Ballyphenan.

The collision involved a cyclist and a Isuzu truck which were both travelling in the same direction.

The cyclist, a local man in his 50's, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death brings the number of people killed on the State's roads to 311.
