Significant quantity of crystal meth seized in Carlow

Man arrested over drug seizure at house in Hackettstown

Gardaí have seized a quantity of the drug crystal meth worth an estimated €90,000 from a house in Co Carlow.

As part of an ongoing operation, officers from Carlow Garda station assisted by the Garda Dog Unit searched a house at Slate Row in Hackettstown.

During the course of the search, the crystal meth - or methamphetamine - was uncovered.

While crystal meth seizures are not uncommon, an amount worth €90,000 is understood to be significant.

Officers also discovered a quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value of €20,000.

A man (37) was arrested by gardaí during the operation and brought to Carlow Garda station for questioning.

He was later charged in connection with the seizure and will appear before a special sitting of Carlow District Court this evening.
