A 51-year-old man being held in connection with the death of a three-year-old boy in Co Antrim in July has been released this evening without charge.

A 27-year-old woman arrested by officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) serious crime branch is still in custody.

The PSNI said the boy, named today as Brendan Owens, was found dead at Trinity Terrace in Lisburn, Co Antrim, on July 4th.

“Detectives are now treating this as a murder investigation,” a spokeswoman said.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, neighbours said residents of the newly refurbished Trinity Terrace, located behind a Domino’s pizza takeaway and near Holy Trinity Nursery School, had moved into the busy side street just a few months before the death.
