Man arrested over €45,000 Westmeath heroin seizure

35-year old detained after gardaí stop car near Kinnegad on Wednesday evening

A man was arrested in Westmeath on Wednesday night as gardaí seized about €45,000 wort of heroin.

Gardaí from the Westmeath Divisional Drug Unit stopped a car near Kinnegad at about 7.30pm last night. The 35-year-old male driver, who was the sole occupant, was arrested and brought to Mullingar Garda Station after the heroin was discovered.

An Garda Síochána said: "These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
