The cause of a flash flood along the banks of the River Dodder in Dublin this morning will be discussed at a special meeting between Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Dublin City Council.

Water levels on the river rose by over eight inches in a matter of hours along the lower Dodder Road causing flooding along the road.

A spokesman for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council said while the speed of the rise in the water level was unusual, the river has previously exceeded this morning's levels.

No houses, businesses or cars were affected by the flooding, according to the council.  The spokesman said water levels receded within a matter of hours and the area is now clear.
