Councillors in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council voted last night to accept their annual budget, including a 2 per cent reduction in rates for businesses.

Annual funding from the Department of the Environment and Local Government was cut by over 7 per cent, making the council one of the most severely affected in the country. The council said its approach was to continue to maintain services as far as possible and to support the commercial sector.
