Striker Paulo Wanchope scored two more goals as Costa Rica continued to illuminate the Copa America with a 4-0 win over Bolivia on Thursday.

Costa Rica, already through to the last eight before kickoff, were joined in the quarter-finals by Honduras, who surprisingly beat Uruguay 1-0 as the first round came to a close.

Uruguay still progressed as one of the two best third-placed teams but finished in disgrace after having two players sent off in their group C match.

Costa Rica, unbeaten in six competitive matches, and Honduras were invited to take part at the last minute after Canada and Argentina pulled out.

Costa Rica, who meet Uruguay in their quarter-final on Sunday, finished top of Group C with seven points; Bolivia went home without a point or goal to their name.

Honduras finished second with six points and will play Brazil on Monday. The other quarter-finals will be between Chile and Mexico on Sunday and hosts Colombia and Peru on Monday.
