GAA:Lar Corbett and Bernard Brogan have picked up more individual honours after being named as the GPA players of the year for hurling and football. Both players won the All Star equivalents last month.

Corbett, Tipperary’s All-Ireland hero as the county ended Kilkenny’s drive for five, was selected ahead of teammate Brendan Maher and Michael Fennelly and Tommy Walsh of the beaten finalists.

Despite not featuring in the All-Ireland football final, Brogan’s stellar campaign saw him land another award. Brogan had an awesome year, scoring 3-42 in the championship before Cork ended their run in the semi-finals.

“While championship success is totally dependent on team effort, there is no doubt that the individual performances of Lar Corbett and Bernard Brogan stood out this year,” GPA chief executive Dessie Farrell said ahead of tonight’s gala dinner.
